Winner - Best Director, Seattle International Film Festival

What a wonderful surprise to get the news today that I won Best Director at the Seattle International Film Festival! This just gets better and better. I just got back from Maui last night where we had a great audience. The word continues to spread about this little Jordanian film that could.

HERE'S THE LINK for the announcement about Captain Abu Raed winning.

This makes this the fifth Award for Captain Abu Raed after winning:

Sundance Audience Award - World Cinema
Dubai International Film Festival - Best Actor
Newport Beach Film Festival - Best Actor
Newport Beach Film Festival - Best Actress

Mabrook to everyone who helped make this film. It is a reflection of everyone's passion to deliver this labor of love.

Thank you all. It's very exciting. We're picking up something every time we're in a competition. Yahoooo! Or do they now say "Goooogle"?

Something cool I just noticed on the list of winners. Look at where all the films are from. Other than Germany, the rest say USA USA USA, Canada... and here's JORDAN. That's pretty cool!

Mabrook, Amin! My husband, Samer, and I met you before the first showing in Seattle. I had meant to write in after and tell you how much we enjoyed the movie and totally forgot. Excellent news about the award.

All the best, Amanda

Would be nice if you get selected to top festivals like Cannes, Locarno, Berlinale, Toronto, Venice. Would be nice to have a Jordanian feature crack the big ones. I am betting on your Amin to make cinema history for Jordan.

In addition to the significance of a major win at Sundance, it's worth pointing out that Seattle's Festival is the biggest in the US with something like 70,000 votes each year and dozens of major premieres ...
